Would you like to become part of the exciting and ever-changing world of fashion and land your dream job in the industry?
Our BA in Fashion Management and Marketing will help you do just that, providing you with the latest insights from the fashion industry and retail businesses. This programme also allows students to gain a strong knowledge and expertise within other fields such as accounting, finance, marketing and operations applied to fashion management.
As with all of our undergraduate programmes at Íæż½ã½ã, you will commence this programme with our broad-based liberal arts approach as you take courses in Tools for Change and Visual Thinking, along with foundations of business to give you a thorough grounding in a range of subjects.
In the second year, you will move on to more targeted topics for business management including managerial accounting, marketing, entrepreneurship and microeconomics.
From corporate finance to celebrity and fan culture, your third year will be equally diverse, taking in topics such as the psychology of fashion and luxury goods, research methods and principles of marketing.
The degree gives students awareness and the know-how to conduct relevant market/consumer research and forecast trends. It also provides students with the necessary tools to be able to compile insights into consumer and fashion buyer behaviour.
Your final year will focus on topics such as sustainable strategic management, digital marketing and social media, which will prove invaluable in the workplace and enhance your employability.
Potential electives in the final year include luxury brand management, and lean start-up, giving our students the opportunity to broaden their knowledge of the industry according to their personal interest.
This programme ensures students have an innovative and visionary approach as marketers. The academics’ teaching methods support our mission to develop students’ creative and analytical skills, to stand out in a competitive fashion marketplace. Graduates will acquire transferable skills such as team-work and leadership – qualities that will make them progress in their career and gain access to top graduate schools worldwide.
On completing this programme, students will be able to apply for four exemptions (all certificate level) from , the world’s largest professional body of management accountants, entering into their Operational Level.

In terms of following up with the assessment of student learning and consistent with US liberal arts traditions, our classes rely on the system of continuous assessment on a course by course basis and throughout any given semester. This approach often involves the use of term-papers, portfolios of work, quizzes, mid-semester and final exams as well as student presentations and general class discussion. Not every component applies to every course, but most do relate to many of the classes that are offered. Many of our courses involve a site visit or require attendance at a public lecture as well.
In addition to the courses outlined above, there are open electives in each year. Course content and delivery can be subject to change. For more detailed information on the programme specification, please find more details here.
A normal course load per academic year is 30 US credits, equivalent to 120 UK credits. Students complete 120 UK credits at Level 6 in their chosen major.
There are many reasons why taking this programme with extended programme option could be the ideal choice; you may not have the exact subjects or grades at A level to meet the entry requirements, you may have tried other options such as apprenticeship and want to change direction or have been living abroad.
Whatever your starting point, studying this programme with extended programme option offers you a great opportunity to gain both a UK and US degree and start the adventure of a lifetime, studying with us in the world’s top student city.
This is what our extended programme option can offer you:

“This very popular degree programme is among the first of its kind, it combines Business Management and Marketing with a particular focus on the Fashion sector. This degree offers access into one of the largest global sectors.â€
– Professor Sabine Spangenberg, Programme Leader
“I am a student of the University of Rhode Island, and I chose London because I am interested in a Fashion Major, Theatre Minor wanting to do costuming in the future. London has a large theatre scene, as well as a history in fashion that dates back to the pioneering of tailoring. I wanted to make sure I was getting the best of both worlds. I interned at couturier Suzie Turner where I learned how high-end couture dresses are assembled. I learned the proper way to embellish high-end garments as well as witnessing the design process in the studio. As I want to be a costume designer, any new skill set picked up within fashion, assembly, or sewing is an additional skill I can use to improve my own designs and garments. The knowledge I gained from seeing what types of materials were used will help me to make the right choices in the future, and I can use the embellishment technique I learned in the studio for my own pieces.
I have loved the environment of my internship the most. Suzie Turner is an amazing person to work with, and her helpful team of interns. She and my supervisor were both so approachable that coming to work and spending the day sewing, chatting, and listening to music didn’t feel like work at all. Moreover, we were making such beautiful dresses!â€
Thimo joined Íæż½ã½ã University in 2016 and is the Course Representative of the Fashion Management and Marketing. He is also the President of the Fashion Society and writes for the related blog. One of his most recent projects is the publishing of RUONCAMPUS magazine in collaboration with the Íæż½ã½ã Fashion Society.
Born in Hamburg, Thimo’s passion has always been for the creative subjects. After having worked at London Fashion Week for two seasons, in 2017 he hosted the Íæż½ã½ã Fashion Show at Íæż½ã½ã University. Many talented young designers from all around London showcased their collections at our University building, that got transformed into a glamorous catwalk for a day, followed by a sales event and party.
“I have always wanted to study fashion and be able to travel and discover new places, so Íæż½ã½ã is the perfect setting for my studies. The fashion management and marketing program offers interesting modules regarding the fashion industry and entering the business world. The professors are great for making themselves available for extra support in classes and recommending suitable internships.
I was excited to start the program and getting to know other students from all over the world, who are interested in the same field as me, and while I am new to the program it has given me a great foundation for business and expanding my studies further into the fashion industry. I am looking forward to my next two years here at Íæż½ã½ã and discovering how being in the fashion management and marketing program will open many doors to a successful career.â€
